Well we made it to China! and although we havent posted a blog for some time (Since the authorities ban certain sites to limit free speach & that includes Blogger!) we are updating by Proxy (thanks John) But have none the less been cramming in the sites, sounds and taste's of the place since the moment we landed. Our first stop was Beijing & what a culture shock that proved to be as not only is the city over flowing with people, temples & building work (for expo 2010) but everyone seems to want to sell you something & wont take "No" for an answer. Traffic rules are another "work in progress" and currently consist of the 'bigger you are the better chance you have to get somewhere" & just when you think its safe to step out into the road, several hundred LPG mopeds silently pass you by as they go the wrong way up a one way streets' foot path at night, without lights & whilst carrying 3 people.....mental! So having sensibly opted for the subway, we ventured out to see the 'temple of Heaven', olympic stadium (Bird's Nest)& Tianomen square to mention but a few. However the best site for now has to be the 'Great Wall' in Simantai. Quite simple its "bloody awesome"! So having walked, climbed & crawled our way across 10km of it in 3hrs & 38C of heat, the only thing left to do was to take the 'flying fox' (Zip line) down to our hotel on the dam & enjoy a cool glass of beer. What a week it's been & a cracking start to our little adventure.
