Hong Kong

So far on our trip the city 'high life' scene hasn't been one of our greatest pleasures!(...ummm. grumpy.....I think everyone has definately got the jist of that one !!!' - ed) However we are happy to stand corrected on the term 'pleasures,' as HongKong certainly changed our views' as it's very much more organised and ordered (like home I guess) than the likes of Xi'an, or Shanghai. As a result of it being very clean, with predictable traffic and a lot less hassle from the local merchants, the likes of us poor old travelling gypsies were able to relax & enjoy the 'scene' for the first time in China!

For our first nights entertainment, the city treated us to a memorable light show from the harbour & whilst the accompaning soundtrack is more 'Casio Passola, then 'Nessun Dorma' it was still a delight to behold, before another street meal & discovery of some wicked cars! It seems you can have what you want on your plate in this place - as long as you have the dosh)...how wicked is that! Day two & we ventured out to the food markets that surrounded our hotel and sampled some of the local grub. Not quite your average cuisine for sure, but fun none the less and so much more enjoyable than a visit to the sterile shelves of your local super market! However no time to rest for us two as we headed South across the river from Kowloon & up to the pinnacle of Victoria Peak (via the electric tram car) for another great view across the city! The fact there was a european shop & a very good italian deli was of complete coincidence!
