Worth Maltravers (Dancing ledge)

Another little walk today but this time it was a coastal one. So starting off at the “Square & Compass” in Worth Matravers [1] Miranda & I heading directly south through the lovely little village of Worth until we hit the coast [2].
With the wind at our backs we headed East for roughly 2 ½ miles until we happened across ‘Dancing Ledge’. A beautiful piece of Jurassic coast where the waves crash over the rock’s of a long forgotten sea bed [3] & numerous ammonite’s are to be found [4]

Whilst such a site is now protected by the National Trust, it wasn’t always and as such carries the scars of time in the form of a local primary school’s swimming pool, blasted from the rocks before the days on health and safety killed all the fun.[5]

After a spot of lunch [6,7] & a quick fish we headed home via Winspit to clock up our final few hours of sunshine. Total Distance 5 ½ miles.
