Denbies Wine Estate (Dorking, Surrey)

This is likely to be the last post before we get on the plane to China, so I’ll keep it short as we still have much to sort out & pack before we go, let alone make time to rehearse the best mans speech for Jason & Sophie wedding this Saturday!

Still last Friday witnessed Miranda & I travelling down to Surrey for an old friends - Elaine and Enzos wedding. Whilst the main event was superb, saturday mornings walk without Dad’s GPS or and OS map got off to a slow start as the website based directions were a little thin on the ground. However heading east we quickly crossed the river via some stepping stones (much to the bemusement of some other tourists) & ascended the steep muddy track for around a mile before stopping off at a bench near the summit for a quick rest [1]

To the West could be seen the endless fields of grape vines from Denbies Wine Estate (628 acres & the biggest wine producing estate in the UK) from which we had commenced our walk [2].

Passing the war memorial on the Southern slop we heading inland, stopping shortly at the American Cowboy styled diner in the Village of Box hill for a quick drink before heading back down the Western slop of Box hill & back to the car [3].
Total distance f the walk being around 5 miles. This was just what was needed to recover from the night before although the beautiful wine we purchased at Denbies will surly make for a pleasant reminiscent evening once we crack it open!
