Nha Trang

Self named as the 'fun' capital of Vietnam, Nha Trang offers the beleaguered backpacker a chance to unwind and explore miles upon miles of white sandy beaches, party hard in the numerous 'open all hours' nightclubs & bars or tryout something different, such as jet-sking or a high rise cable car across the harbour to ''Hon Tre" island for some RnR. However it was the sub-aquatic life that was of interest to Miranda & I as Nha Trang is a highly rated spot by the 'PADI' crowd for its warm waters (30C), great visibility (30m+) and abundant coral reefs.

So bright & early on the day after the journey before, (long story for another time,) we joined the Rainbow divers cruise to Madonna rocks & descended the 20m to razor sharp corals below. Heavily storm damaged flora, but teaming with fauna we floated around this underwater world until our air ran low. With the briefest of surface intervals, we participated in another dive (Seahorse bay) & witnessed yet more vibrantly coloured aquatic life before our return journey to the harbour near Vinpearl land.

As a foot note we must just mention the crazy, but lovable lady guesthouse owner we stayed with in the "Orchid" (Phong Lan) guesthouse - as she really made us feel like our mums were there! Not only did she warn us ( repeatedly) of the "potential bag stealings" in the same way as many comedic Germans characters apologise for their 'countries aktionz durzing ze var," but she sent us on our way with a little bag of fresh lychees just in case we needed emergency rations ;)
